The Bay Area-China Connection

The Bay Area Economic Forum, and co-sponsors the Commonwealth Club, the Asia Society of Northern California, the California-Asia Business Council, the Committee of 100 and the Berkeley China Initiative, invite you to a special forum on the San Francisco Bay Area’s business, economic, educational, historical and cultural ties to China.  The forum will coincide with the release of a new report by the Bay Area Economic Forum, Ties That Bind: The Bay Area-China Connection, which documents the depth and breadth of the region’s engagement with China, and the business and other channels that have made this region the nation’s leading portal for US-China exchange.

Following presentation of the report’s findings by Bay Area Economic Forum CEO Dr.  Sean Randolph, FedEx Chief Economist Dr. Gene Huang will discuss the ongoing development of China’s economy and the opportunities for Bay Area and California companies to participate.  Dr. Huang’s presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with Dennis Wu, Executive Vice President of United Commercial Bank, Tim Dattels of Newbridge Capital, and other business leaders on the report’s implications for the Bay Area and its economic future.

The forum will take place at the Commonwealth Club, 595 Market Street, in San Francisco from 12:00-1:30pm.  A light lunch will be available at 11:30.  There is no charge for this event.  To reserve your seat in advance, contact: the Commonwealth Club at 415-597-6705, or register on-line at www.commonwealthclub.org.
